Sunday Tip: Turning beans in to butter…whoops!

So I’ve decided that Sundays are totally worth celebrating and that in order for them to be honoured in a righteous way, you need the following:

  1. People
  2. Food
  3. Butter

I’m going to give you a little tip every Sunday in order to pursue my little dream of everyone getting back around the table and eating together. Whether it’s breakfast, lunch or dinner, I’ll be here, rallying the roast dinner troops.

We had a wonderful dinner yesterday.

Our friends came around for, are you ready…

Sausage and mash Sunday!

Because we are that type of couple.

But it was just so lovely to have a good chat with our friends and come together around the dinner table whilst the rain had it’s annual English summer party outside.

This glorious English weather also didn’t stop me from being extremely excited about what I deem to be the star of yesterday’s Sunday show.

The market bought broad beans I purchased on Saturday.


Oh aren’t they absolutely wonderful!

There I stood, de-podding these meaty green giants one after another-it was actually very therapeutic.

And remember: Things of beauty needn’t be steamed to within an inch of their lives.

They should be boiled for a couple of minutes, drained and drizzled (dolloped) in a bit of butter with a good sprinkle of course black pepper.

Then, you can eat them before your guests arrive because they will never know the difference!
