On a dark winter morning it’s nice to wake up to a plate of something fruity, fresh and beautiful.
It’s also quite the motivation to wake up to something that looks kind of like…dessert.
What more could you want on a Saturday morning?
Dessert for breakfast anyone?!
Roasted nutmeg and honey pears with vanilla yoghurt and toasted almonds
1 pear: Pears are in season right now and they are just wonderful!
1 tablespoon of ground almonds
1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg (A bit of Christmas spice!)
1 teaspoon of honey (I use acacia)
1 pot of vanilla yoghurt
1 tablespoon of flaked almonds
Pre-heat the oven to 180.
Take your pear and peel it, cut it in half and take out the core.
Place both halves on a baking tray and sprinkle on the nutmeg, ground almonds and drizzle on the honey.
Place in the oven for 5 minutes and then turn the pears over.
Cook for a further 5 minutes.
While the pears are roasting, place the flaked almonds in a dry pan on a medium heat.
Turn until all the almonds are golden.
Once the pears are done, place on a plate and pour on the yoghurt.
Finish with the toasted almonds.
Then eat, and remember that old saying:
Life’s too short-eat dessert first!
